********************************************************************************** Long Time Elvis Fan’s Debut Album Inspires Hope by Revisiting Roots Wyatt Lee, whose love of music was inspired by Elvis when Lee was growing up, released his debut album in his home city of Hong Kong. Entitled In Songs We Trust, the album features some of the best loved gospel songs that Elvis recorded during his career. Of particular note is an “East meets West version” of Amazing Grace that incorporated traditional Chinese musical instrumentation into the timeless classic. According to Lee, the album is a dream come true for him. “I have always wanted to be a recording artist since I was a teenager. So when I finally got the chance, I wanted to connect with people through that soulful R&B sound that inspired my love of music. And knowing that the King’s music has its roots in gospel, I thought it might be a good place for me to start too,” said Lee. The singer added that the plan for the album came together around the onset of the recent global financial crisis, so he wanted to share with the world some of songs that had always given him solace and hope. “It is often in challenging times when we revisit our roots to find strength and courage for a better day. So I’d consider this album a success if some people find their spirits lifted by the songs,” said Lee. The production team came up with the idea of accentuating Lee’s deep voice with an arrangement infused with the ethereal quality of traditional Chinese instrumentation. The result is an “East meets West version” of Amazing Grace that lets Lee channel his feelings through a fresh interpretation of the time-honored classic. Ray Cordero, a legendary radio host in Hong Kong, gave the album a glowing review. “You will notice that certain emotion and soul in Wyatt’s voice to a point of tears from his heart,” Cordero wrote. As usual, we like to introduce new places for our members to celebrate. To celebrate our fan club’s 41st anniversary, we discovered an exciting place, located in the heart of Wanchai, Xperience is a lounge music bar, where we can listen, watch, impersonate and pay tribute to Elvis. At the time of writing, our good friend, Anders Nelsson has promised to come and perform for us. We have missed our own HK Elvis Johnny Ma for one whole year. He will make his '09 come back special on that day. What’s more…Nonie Yambao, the Elvis Presley of Philippines, will return to entertain us.

********************************************************************************** One World One King – IEPFC 40th Anniversary Party 雖然貓王皮禮士利已離開我們30載，但他的形象及歌聲仍然留在一眾歌迷心中，並沒有因他的離開而忘記他。成立於1968年的香港國際艾維斯•皮禮士利歌迷會剛於五月一日晚，在怡和大廈 Grappa's Cellars餐廳舉行四十週年慶祝晚會。是次活動得到新舊會員及各方好友支持，令會場座無虛席，獲得空前成功。 六時許，歌迷已紛紛到場，大會在大螢幕上播放一首首貓王的經典金曲如Love Me Tender, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Don’t Be Cruel及Are You Lonesome Tonight等。 當歌迷享用豐富的義式自助餐後，戲肉於八時正式開始，由會長Kevin Wong擔任司儀，首先，大會透過一些照片，簡短地介紹了歌迷會過去四十年的歷史和一些重要活動。接著四位前會長獲頒發紀念品, 以表揚他們對歌迷會的貢獻。 之後的節目便是由年輕會長Kevin (他是在 Elvis 逝世後一年才出世的) 制作的 The Elvis Presley Story，簡短地介紹 Elvis 的一生：除剪輯了Elvis 的表演片段外，更由幾位會員歌手演譯不同年代的 Elvis, 如11歲的 Cristian Tsang 演唱 Elvis 十歲時的得獎歌曲 Old Shep 及50年代名曲Jailhouse Rock、 Lenny Fung 演譯 Elvis 退伍後在 Frank Sinatra電視節目演唱的 Fame and Fortune、Peric Lee唱出貓王最賣座電影Blue Hawaii的插曲、會長 Kevin Wong演唱 Elvis電影金曲、日籍會員 Hiroshi Ishikawa演譯Elvis在1973年 Aloha From Hawaii中的名曲、有香港貓王之稱的 Johnny Ma則演譯Elvis 1970年代的經典歌曲。 而Elvis位於田納西州曼菲斯的Graceland在逝世後五年，正式開放給歌迷參觀；此時Aron Young唱出 Welcome to My World – 當歌迷參觀Graceland時聽到的第一首歌。最後The Elvis Presley Story由二十歲的 Khasman Khan以舞蹈介紹在 2002年 Elvis 逝世二十五週年的冠軍歌 – Remix 板本的 A Little Less Conversation作為終結。從此可以睇到 Elvis的歌迷，並沒有年齡界限，更甚的是，Elvis雖然離開了， 但並不等於再沒有新歌迷。 第二部份節目則由歌迷會一眾嘉賓好友表演貓王的金曲，包括 Anders Nelsson, Philip Chan, Cristine Samson與 Romeo Diaz 及他們的女兒 Krystal, Danny Diaz和來自馬來西亞的貓王會會長 H. Although Elvis left us for 30 years, he is still in everyone’s heart and he’s still “in the building”! International Elvis Presley Fan Club (Hong Kong) held a full-house event at Grappa’s Cellars, Jardine House on 1 May to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the fan club. The event started at 6:00pm, which Elvis’ golden hits like Love Me Tender, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Don’t Be Cruel, Are You Lonesome Tonight etc. surrounded the venue. After having the Italian buffet dinner, the show started at 8pm, Kevin Wong, the President of the fan club was the emcee of the event. The performance started with a photo slide show, introducing the history and milestone of the fan club; then 4 former presidents received a trophy from the fan club, to appreciate their continuous support to the fan club. The Elvis Presley Story, which was produced by Kevin came to the next. You could see real Elvis’ footage and live performances by the members: Cristian Tsang as young Elvis, singing the song which Elvis won second place in the talent show (Old Shep) and early Elvis hits; Lenny Fung singing “Fame and Fortune”, which Elvis performed in his first post-army TV show (hosted by Frank Sinatra), Peric Lee as Elvis in “Blue Hawaii”, Kevin performed Elvis’ movie hits, Hiroshi Ishikawa, their Japanese member, acted as Elvis in “Aloha from Hawaii” live concert, the “Hong Kong Elvis” – Johnny Ma, singing Elvis’ concert years’ hits. Five years after Elvis left us, his home, Graceland, located in Memphis, Tennessee, opened to public. At the same time, Aron sang “Welcome to My World” – the first song when the visitors arrived Graceland. The Elvis Presley Story ended by a Martial Art Dance by Khasman Khan, with Elvis’ number 1 hit in 2002, “A Little Less Conversation”. From this, you can realize that Elvis has fans at different age group, from 3 to 80, moreover, though he left us for 30 years, more and more people are crazy with him! The second part of the show was performed by good friends of the fan club, including Anders Nelsson, Philip Chan, Cristine Samson, Romeo Diaz and their daughter Krystal, Danny Diaz and HT Long, who flied to Hong Kong from Malaysia. HT has been the president of the Malaysian Elvis Fan Club for 41 years! Finally, Elvis from the Philippines, Nonie Yambao came on stage and brought the house down. His energetic performance made people feel that they were attending a live Elvis Presley show!

Many young members of our fan club were not even born then! We are proud to present the 40th Anniversary Party on 1st May 2008 – a day for the young and the young at heart coming to share the memory of Elvis and the Fan Club together. On this big day, we will bring you a brief history of the Fan Club with slide shows. We will present a brief Elvis life story with music by Elvis himself and our own singing members, your good friends, Johnny Ma, Hiroshi, Justin Lim, Cristian Tsang and Peric Lee,etc. And…for the first time in Hong Kong, we will bring to you the sensational Nonie Yambao, 33-year-old current Elvis Presley of Philippines. Nonie was the No.1 in the Elvis contest sponsored by the Discovery Travel and Adventure channel (20th August, 2001)Philippines; the winner of Grand champion Elvis Presley look and sound alike (30th August,2001) Philippines. He also won the top prize in Hard Rock Café, Tokyo (2003). He has performed in various venues in Las Vegas, New York, Hawaii, Tokyo, Osaka, Guam, Saipan and Seoul. We are all excited to see him. Another highlight of the night will be H.T.Long, our very good friend, the Pre President of the Malalysian Elvis fan club and the original Elvis Presley of Malaysia. In addition, there will be performances by mysterious guests too!. Live music will be provided by the Elvis Band from Philippines – the same fantastic band at the last August party!

Remembering Elvis….30 Years After
Elvis returns to the Building! To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Elvis Presley’s demise, we brought Elvis back to the building on the 26 August 2007 – starring Stephen Kabakos from Canada – World Champion of the Images of the King Competition in 2001 at a private club at Causeway Bay. Of course, Stephen was not the only Elvis Tribute Artist for the event. Our local ETAs and members like Justin Lim, Hiroshi Ishikawa, Peric Lee,, Cristian Chiu, Aron Young and Lenny Fung added the light too. It’s our great honor to have Anders Nelsson to be our MC of the event. Moreover, we are so happy that many VIPs like our honorary patron Uncle Ray, Chito Bertol (President of Elvis Presley Friendship Club of the Philippines), Christine Samson, Irene Ryder, Sharon Kwok, Philip Chan, Ricky Hui and Michael Hui accepted our invitation to share their love to the King. We are proud to say Elvis is the only artist who still has the power to get millions together even though he left us 30 years ago!

Elvis Tribute Artists' Performance at Shatin Riverside Regal Hotel Our Fan Club members, Justin Lim and Hiroshi Ishikawa were invited to perform on the New Eve Party at Shatin Riverside Regal Hotel. Members from the Fan Club participated the party to support Justin and Hiroshi. Again, their professional performances captured every participant's heart and applause were around the venue!
Elvis Ishikawa Show at Mr. Moonlight Pub Our Japanese Elvis Tribute Artist, Mr. Hiroshi "Elvis" Ishikawa organized a mini-concert at a Japanese pub called Mr. Moonlight on 23 December 2006. Members of the Fan Club attended and support our very good friend. The mini-concert was full-house and the show was divided into 2 parts. For the first part of the show, Hiroshi came on stage with the "Burning Love" jumpsuit. After the intermission, he wore the famous jumpsuit in "That's The Way It Is". This is the first time we heard Hiroshi sang "Jailhouse Rock"!
29 Years After - Our Love to Elvis Is Still Burning!! Elvis Presley 29th Anniversary Commemorative Event Our 29th Anniversary Commemorative Event was held successfully at Police Officers' Club, Causeway Bay. Over 180 members and guests attended the event and paid their tributes to the King of the Rock and Roll. The fantastic performances of Naoto Ogata (Japan's Number 1 Elvis Tribute Artist), Elvispro, (the youngest Elvis Tribute Artist in Asia with only 10 years old), Johnny Ma (Hong Kong Elvis), Christine Samson (famous singer in Hong Kong), Crystal Chui (Christine Samson's student with only 8 years old), Justin Lim (our local young Elvis), Melvis Kwok (the Lan Kwai Fong Elvis), Hiroshi Ishikawa (our Japanese member), Aron Young and Lenny Fung (our committee members) really brought the house down. Members will get their copies at our 29th Anniversary Commemorative Event on 26 August. For those who are not available to attend, we will send your copies by post. This is the first issue edited by Kevin Wong, the President of the Fan Club, which includes news from Elvis World, introduction of CD and DVD released recently, Tribute to Charlie Hodge, Elvis loyal sidekick, Elvis-themed show on "American Idol", 2006 Tupelo Elvis Festival, US President George W. Bush and Japan Prime Minister Koizumi visit to Graceland and so on. Hope all of you like it!

The Fan Club celebrated their 38th anniversary on 1st May, 2006 at Red Zone, Avenue of Stars. Fan Club committee members, Uncle Ray, Christine Samson and Irene Ryder graced the celebration on this night with performances by our very own young Hong Kong Elvis Justin Lim & Kevin Wong. Christine Samson also performed some Elvis hits with the accompaniment of Justin Lim on guitar and Howard doing a duet. The finale performance by our Japanese member Hiroshi Ishikawa brought the house in his Elvis jumpsuit.
